UNBOXING

The Razer brand is characterized by taking care of their products, and one of the clearest examples is the way they package them. When we open the box the first thing we can read is the slogan “For gamers, by gamers”, something that we can check simply by looking at the contents of the box.

First we find the headset, well protected by a plastic case and a pad, an audio and microphone extension/split cable for devices with separate audio and microphone connectors and a manual with information about the headset

One last addition is the note signed by Razer’s co-founder and CEO Creative Director, Min-Lang Tan talking about the commitment they have to gamers and finally, it also includes two stickers with the company’s logo.

AUDIO

The Razer Kraken X delivers crisp, quality audio. These helmets have optimized 40mm drivers that offer a clear and balanced positional sound, giving the headset a good immersion during gaming sessions.

We have the possibility of activating the 7.1 audio if we play on PC with these headphones, through a code that comes in the box. In this way the audio is heard spatially, that is, we can detect enemies if they come from any point around us instead of the entire right or left side spectrum.

As for the more technical aspects related to audio, these are its characteristics:

  • Frequency: 12Hz – 28kHz.
  • Impedance: 32Ω at 1kHz
  • Sensitivity at 1kHz: 109 dB.
  • Optimized 40mm drivers with neodymium magnets.
  • 7.1 audio on PC

On the other hand, the microphone is no slouch either. Its design is flexible and foldable, to place them in the most comfortable position for us or to fold it when we do not need to use it.

It also has a cardioid pattern, which only captures the sound coming from the mouth area and thus avoids background sounds for clear communication.

The technical characteristics of the microphone are as follows:

  • Frequency response: 100Hz – 10kHz.
  • Signal to noise ratio: > 60 dB.
  • Sensitivity at 1kHz: -45 ± 3 dB.
  • Unidirectional ECM microphone boom pick-up pattern.

CONNECTIVITY AND BUTTONS

The headphones are connected via a 1.3 meter long 3.5mm mini-jack audio cable covered with a protective mesh, which not only protects the cable, but also provides a quality feel to the touch.

As for the buttons that these headphones have, there are two and they are located on the back of the left ear cup, where we also find the microphone. They are a button to activate/deactivate the microphone and an analog volume wheel.

DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS

The design of these headphones stands out for its simplicity and quality. The buttons are located in an area that allows us to adjust the volume or activate/deactivate the microphone without having to release the remote control, the headband is adjustable and fully padded and the microphone, being flexible, can be placed in the way that suits us best.

The ear cushions, which are oval, cover the ear completely, isolating external sounds quite well, and are made of viscoelastic synthetic leather, so we can spend long gaming sessions without discomfort. As if that were not enough, they also include a small hole for the temples of the glasses.

All these design options give the helmets great quality and ergonomics, but without a doubt one of their strong points is their weight: 250 grams. This means that we hardly notice that we are wearing them.

Finally, these helmets are available in 2 colors: with the headband and logos in blue, as in the photos, or totally black.

FEELINGS THAT I HAVE LEFT THESE HELMETS

After using these headphones in a few gaming sessions, both in single-player and online games, I can say that they offer excellent audio quality, both when we get fully into a story and when listening to where the enemies come to us in frantic multiplayer games.

In addition, their ergonomics make using them quite comfortable and we will not get tired of wearing them.
